I've always wanted to get some solar panels. Recently it occurred to me that I could get panels that would also provide shade to my south facing bedroom window - reducing the tremendous heat load of this window.
Yesterday Shawn Lessord from Rochester Solar Technologies came out to check my location and start the process. He's a very helpful, knowledgeable guy. He "tested" the exposure percentage and found that, to qualify for the NYSERTA program (60-70% government subsidy) I may need to trim &/or remove some trees. "Sigh" - this stuff is never easy.
